Yankee Doodle: Prop Story

Head of a horse made from felt and yarn atached to t stickYankee Doodle
First verse & refrain traditional; Rest written by CK Emanuel

Yankee Doodle went to town a-riding on a pony.
He stuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroni.

Yankee Doodle, keep it up Yankee Doodle Dandy
Mind the music and the step and with the girls be handy!

That Yankee gave a kick and off took his faithful filly
He travelled ‘round the land though the wind was awfully chilly.

Yankee Doodle, keep it up Yankee Doodle Dandy
Mind the music and the step and with the girls be handy!

And where is Yankee Doodle now, since his horse is sleeping?
Sitting ‘round the dinner table with his plate a’heaping!

Yankee Doodle, keep it up Yankee Doodle Dandy
Mind the music and the step and with the girls be handy!

American Presidents: Fingerplay

Thank You Presidents!
Text and Actions by C.K. Emanuel

We thank the presidents,
FINGERTIPS OF ONE HAND TOUCH LIPS, THEN LAY IT FLAT ON TOP OF OTHER HAND
Past and new,
CURVE HAND TO GESTURE OVER SHOULDER, THE POINT IN FRONT OF YOU.
For keeping our country strong.
FLEX ARMS ON EITHER SIDE OF HEAD.

George Washington was the first.
HOLD UP ONE FINGER
As a general, he fought for freedom.
TOUCH SIDE OF HAND TO FOREHEAD IN A SALUTE
When the war was won, what should he be?
HANDS OUT TO SIDES, PALM UP
No king  said he, instead a president!
HANDS ON EITHER SIDE OF HEAD TO MAKE CROWN, SHAKE HEAD “NO”

Abraham Lincoln, with his tall hat,
TOUCH TOP OF HEAD, THE RAISE IT OVERHEAD
Was the 16th president to serve.
HAND OVER HEART
With his words, he led the charge
HAND FLAT, THUMB UNDERNEATH FINGERS, OPEN AND CLOSE AS IF IT WERE A MOUTH SPEAKING.
Of keeping country together as one.
CURVE HANDS, BRING THEM TOGETHER TO FASHION A CIRCLE.

Thank you, thank you, presidents!
FINGERTIPS OF ONE HAND TOUCH LIPS, THEN LAY IT FLAT ON TOP OF OTHER HAND; REPEAT ACTIONS TWICE.
