Based upon the traditional tale as compiled by the Grimm Brothers

A girl with golden hair on stroll in the woods,
STROKE HAIR
Went into a house that was not hers,
FINGERTIPS OF HANDS TOUCH TO FORM A TRIANGLE; SHAKE HEAD NO.
Where she ate from three bowls that were not hers,
MOVE HAND AS IF EATING FROM BOWL; SHAKE HEAD NO.
And then sat in three chairs that were not hers,
ONE HAND VERTICAL SITS ON OTHER HAND THAT IS FLAT; SHAKE HEAD NO.
Before laying in three beds that were not hers.
HANDS TOGETHER TOUCHING CHECK; SHAKE HEAD NO.
Three bears came home to a mess that was now theirs;
MAKE CLAWS; PUT HANDS ON CHECKS IN AN “OH NO!”
So Goldilocks ran to a house that was hers.
MOVE ARMS LIKE RUNNING;

Dog vs Skunk: Fingerplay

Skunk.DogThe Dog’s Lament
Words and Actions by CK Emanuel

In the yard, the dog was sleeping
HANDS, PALMS TOGETHER, TOUCHING SIDE OF CHECK
when it heard something creeping
MOVE HANDS SLOWLY LIKE PAWS  WALKING
in the shadows, in the dark!
COVER EYES WITH HANDS
Loudly, the dog began to bark!
COVER EARS WITH HANDS

The timid skunk was afraid
MAKE FISTS AND SHAKE ARMS
and so lifted its tail and sprayed.
PALMS TOGETHER, THEN BEND TOP HAND AT WRIST
The cat inside cried out “Oh, No!”
PULL AT IMAGINARY WHISKERS WHILE SHAKING HEAD
but the sleepy dog was too slow.
MOVE ARMS AS IF RUNNING SLOWLY

Oh, how the dog’s owners yelled,
COVER EARS WITH HANDS
for that dog really smelled.
TOUCH NOSE
The dog felt like a silly goose,
CROSS ARMS & SHAKE HEAD
getting a bath in tomato juice.

Little Red Riding Hood
Words and Actions by CK Emanuel

Mother said listen, and listen well.
CUP EAR
“Go through the wood with all due haste!
MOVE ARMS AS IF RUNNING
Do not dawdle to smell or taste;
TOUCH NOSE ,THEN LIPS
Do not to speak to those unknown;
SHAKE HEAD ‘NO’ AS OPENS AND CLOSES 1 HAND LIKE MOUTH
Go straight to grandmother who’s sick and alone.”
TOUCH STOMACH

Taking a basket of all sorts of treats,
RUB BELLY
the young girl put on her dashing red hood,
PRETEND TO PULL UP HOOD
and promised to be exceptionally good.
MAKE A CROSS OVER HEART
But from the wooded path, she did to stray
SHAKE HEAD ‘NO’
to pick some flowers and  enjoy the day.
PRETEND TO PICK FLOWERS

There she met a furry stranger,
RUB ARM
and told him of her sick grandmother.
TOUCH STOMACH
Then she took one path, he another.
HOLD UP 1 FINGER, THEN 2
She was walked slow, while he ran quick,
MOVE ARMS SLOWLY, THEN FAST AS IF RUNNING
and was soon in place for a dastardly trick.
MAKE A MEAN FACE

Upon entering her sick grandmother’s house,
PUT FINGERTIPS TOGETHER TO MAKE A “HOUSE”
the girl was surprised by the figure in bed.
PALMS TOGETHER WITH HANDS TOUCHING CHEEK
And, while grandma’s cap was on top of its head,
TOUCH THE TOP OF HEAD
the ears were too big, the eyes were, too
POINT TO EARS THEN TO EYES
and with the size of the teeth, the young girl knew
PUT INDEX FINGERS ON EITHER SIDE OF MOUTH LIKE ‘FANGS’

It was the wolf!
MAKE CLAWS
