Train: Fingerplay

Little Red Train Car
Words by CK Emanuel
To the tune of: Bumping Up and Down in My Little Red Wagon

Chugging through the town
BEND ARMS AT ELBOW AND MOVE ARMS IN A CIRCLE
in my little red train car,
TOUCH PALM TO CHEST ;
MAKE FIST IN AIR AS IF BLOWING A TRAIN’S WHISTLE
Chugging through the town in my little red train car,
REPEAT ACTIONS ABOVE
Chugging through the town in my little red train car,
REPEAT ACTIONS ABOVE
Climb aboard
CURVE ARM UP AT ELBOW FOR A “COME ON” GESTURE
And ride with me
MAKE FISTS WITH THUMBS OUT; TOUCH THUMBS TO CHEST

Painting Weather: Fingerplay

With A Little Paintbrush
Text and Actions by CK Emanuel

I have a little paintbrush,   HOLD UP FIST AS IF GRASPING A BRUSH
and I know just what to do.   POINT TO CHEST
With a little bit of white,   PRETEND TO PAINT
puffy clouds float across the sky.   MOVE HANDS SLOWLY IN FRONT OF BODY
With a darker gray    PRETEND TO PAINT
I make the rain begin fall.    WIGGLE FINGERS AS MOVE HANDS DOWNWARDS MOTION
But at last comes a dab of yellow,    PRETEND TO PAINT
To make a shining sun.   MAKE CIRCLE WITH ARMS OVERHEAD
And wouldn’t you know,   HANDS OUT TO SIDES, PALM UP
all the colors smear across the page;   MOVE HAND IN “SMEARING” MOTION
for what is rain  without a rainbow   MAKE “RAIN” LIKE BEFORE; THEN MOVE HAND IN AN UPWARDS ARCH
chase  the sad away?   UPSIDE DOWN “V”, MOVE LIKE “LEGS” RUNNING ACROSS THE ARCH

Painting a Merry-Go-Round: Felt Song

felt merry go round with colored horses

Words attributed to Kidsongs: Adapted Slightly
To the tune of: Oh Dear! What Can the Matter Be?

Oh Dear, what should the color be
Oh Dear, what should the color be
Oh Dear, what should the color be
Pierre can’t make up his mind

He’s painting a picture of
carousel horses
So many colors and so many choices
Should he pick purple or should he
pick yellow
To color the first horse in line?

(Repeat chorus)
