I’m a soldier, dressed just so.
TOUCH FOREHEAD WITH HAND (PALM DOWN) AND     GIVE A SALUTE
TUG AT SHIRT AT THE SHOULDERS
This is what you should know:
HANDS OUT AT SIDES, PALMS UP
TAP FINGER TO TEMPLE
I leave my family and my town,
WAVE “GOOD-BYE”
to help keep you safe and sound.
HUG SELF
The work is hard, but it is fine
WIPE FOREHEAD
GIVE A “THUMBS UP”
An honor to have a job like mine.
PUT HAND OVER CHEST

Participation Age Range: 6 months to 8 years

Skills Utilized/Reinforced: Fine motor skills ; Knowledge of Soldier’s role ; Empathy

Possible Modifications: For the real young audience, it is possible to use only one action in each line.

Themes: Soldiers, Honor, Service, Bravery, Veteran’s Day, Uniform/Clothing, Jobs/Occupation
